MAYER & PIERSON (Léopold-Ernest MAYER 1817-1895 and Pierre-Louis PIERSON 1822-1913 - attributed to). Full-length portrait of the great tragedienne Rachel (Elisabeth-Rachel Félix, Mademoiselle Rachel, Elisa Félix, dit - 1821- 1858) in the role of "Phèdre". Circa 1850. Print on salted paper mounted on cardboard and framed. Visual format approx. 14.5 x 9 cm. Format with margins approx. 19.5 x 15 cm. Framed format approx. 31 x 27 cm. Attached is a handwritten letter, in poor condition: Authentic photograph (single print) of Rachel, the great tragedienne (...) 1921 this photograph was (...) given to me by Mr. André Painter (...) living in Nice 1 rue Notre- Dame. He had his studio in Paris at 54 rue Saint-Lazare - a studio that had been ceded to him in 1890 by the painter Cesson, born in (...).
