Pablo PICASSO. Autograph letter signed "Picasso", Horta de E - Lot 24
Pablo PICASSO. Autograph letter signed "Picasso", Horta de Ebro, Wednesday [July 21, 1909], to Guillaume APOLLINAIRE, 15 rue Gros, Paris (Passy); 3 pages of an in-fol. bifeuillet (32.5 x 22 cm; 2nd leaf split), envelope with stamps and postmark. "My dear Guillaume I don't want you to believe all those stories from editions Kahnveiler. I'll sign you a friendship bill payable at any time. I don't want you to believe all this malicious gossip. If you want to do a book on Spain as you say, you only have to come here, I don't have much money, but if you can get the money for the travels, then you don't have to worry about the rest. I'd be very happy, you know, if you spent a long time with me here. Fernande [Olivier] is not well at all, I hope the time she spends here will do her good. I know from Max [Jacob] that Salmon was going to get married I have received no news either of his marriage or of his honorary prize at the Odeon. Max and like any day full of fantasy I can't receive the letters he doesn't write me. I'm glad you're working and making verses. Le libre del Aretino if you don't come I'd rather you kept it for me. I'll have it in Paris when I get back. If you come, you can find out how much the trip to Barcelona and even Tortosa costs afterwards (I'll pick you up in Tortosa) for 2 or 3 francs. If you set off right away when you get to Barcelona, go and see Ramon Reventos [ ] he'll tell you all about Barcelona and my friends. [ ] On the understanding that you won't have to pay anything here, you'll be staying with me" Unpublished letter
