FIAT 500 JOLLY As with its city version, the Fiat 500 Jolly - Lot 214
FIAT 500 JOLLY As with its city version, the Fiat 500 Jolly is emblematic of the Italy of the 1960s/1970s. Although the golden era of coachbuilders between the wars is over, some models served as a basis for the work of certain coachbuilders, wishing to offer a wealthy clientele exclusive models, sometimes very sporty, sometimes reserved for a particular use. Such is the case of the Fiat Jolly. A mythical beach car, like the Mini Moke made famous by Brigitte Bardot in St Tropez, this beach version was very much in vogue in Italy's posh seaside resorts, particularly in the hands of Aristotle Onassis. Devoid of doors and roof, replaced by an awning often with bangs and ropes, many models were fitted with wicker seats. The best-known symbol of beach cars, its performance is not sought-after. Like its city sibling, it's equipped with a 497 cm3 air-cooled twin-cylinder engine, which is more than enough to get you to your boat in port or to the seaside. Officially produced in less than 100 examples, according to sources, by the Ghia coachbuilder, reproductions, like this one, have been legion for over 50 years. For sale is a sparkling yellow version with a white fabric roof. With its wooden steering wheel (note the Ferrari logo in the center) and wicker seats, it will be an invitation to travel and pleasure after an aesthetic and mechanical restoration. Also known as "Spiaggina" for "plagette" in Italy, this yoghurt pot convertible is just looking for a new family to restore it to its former glory. (Sold non-rolling and non-rotating, further information and photos on request). Engine: 497 cm3 air-cooled twin-cylinder Transmission: 3-speed manual Power: approx. 19 hp Dimensions: 2.97 x 1.32 x 1.32 m
