CIRCASSIAN OFFICER'S CHACHKA IN THE SERVICE OF THE OTTOMANS. Ottoman Empire, made for the Circassians, 19th century. Guard entirely covered with silver and niello. Blade with one hollow side and two gutters, bearing gold inscriptions (maker's mark). Wooden and leather scabbard with five silver trimmings. Length. 104,5 cm Interesting detail: the ring of bélières is on the interior side, the weapon was thus manufactured in the Ottoman Empire where the chachkas ferret carried by the Circassians in the manner different from that of the Cossacks of Russia.
