Label on the back of the panel "from the Cabinet Denon, 214 of its catalog, a sleeping Bacchante, reclining in a landscape, acquired at the sale of April 1-19, 1826, number 214 by his friend Rouillot?" Constantin Marcille's collection label, Lugt L605a "CM no 785". This work was listed as #785 in the collection of C. Marcille (1816-1875). His collection was dispersed by his heirs.
