249 Large patinated bronze, gilt bronze and Portor marble cl - Lot 249
249 Large patinated bronze, gilt bronze and Portor marble clock, depicting a muse leaning on a dial with Roman and Arabic numerals (restored) surmounted by books and drapery. Attributed to Jean-Baptiste Héricourt (1765-1849). The movement signed by VIGER in Paris and numbered 1375, probably a re-use of a movement of François VIGER of the Louis XVI period (missing). Empire period Height: 66 cm - Length: 48 cm - Depth: 27 cm A similar clock is now kept at the British Embassy in Paris from the collection of Pauline Borghese, two are in the Palais du Luxembourg in Paris and three in the Mobilier National.
