Pierre CHARBONNIER (1897-1978). Strong lot Lot of photographic prints of windows made by Pierre Charbonnier between 1928 and 1933 24 x 18 cm (tears and small lacks). We join a preparatory study for a probable element of decoration of a shop window. Gouache on paper. 61 x 46,5 cm (Folds). At the beginning of his career as a painter, Pierre Charbonnier was a specialist in metalwork, employed by The Belgian Cracking Company (B.C.C.) between 1928 and 1933. The design of the showcases by the future painter allowed the company to obtain in 1929 in Liège and 1930 in Barcelona the prize Hors concours member of the jury and a Grand Prix at the International Exhibitions. In his personal correspondence, we find several companies praising the qualities of his work described as "modern". A letter, addressed by Leopold Henry to Lucien Beckers in 1933, mentions the breach of contract between the B.C.C. and Pierre Charbonnier, with an amusing mention. "I would be, personally, grateful to you to help this young talent to create a new situation in the way of the display, because I dare not believe in an assured future of the career of painter.
