Africa. Expressive buffalo mask from the Mumuye tribe of northeastern Nigeria south of the Benue River. It is made of light wood and colored in reddish dye. On the backside are two large horns while in front a large mouth is open. This type of head mask is worn horizontally above the head. Accidents, missing parts and visible wear. 480 x 240 x 180mm.
