212 STEIN, VERA FEDOROVNA (THEODOROVNA, 1881-1971) Portrait of Jacob Solnychkin, non-commissioned officer of the L.G. Sotnia of the Terek of the Emperor's Personal Escort (Konvoi). 1915 Coloured plaster. Height: 45.5 cm. Signed at the bottom of the base in Cyrillic characters: "V. Stein" On the reverse side of the base, label with a handwritten note identifying the model, located "Mogilev" and dated "October 4, 1915". October 4 is the Regimental Day of the Escort and it is in Mogilev, where the headquarters of the Russian Army "Stavka" was located. The Cossack of the Convoy is represented in field dress (Chernkeeska without gallon), with the unit's coat of arms and insignia on his chest. According to the Konvoi regulations, only Cossacks who had shown bravery in battle were eligible for service in the Emperor's Personal Escort. The Cossack Jacob Solnychkin, pictured here, conveys an image of certain virility, proper to the ideals of the Russian Imperial Army. Small accident at the base.
