Left sheet with a restored tear next to the central fold. Two sheets, when joined, measuring: 600 x 900 mm. Rare two-sheet map of Russia stretching north of the Caspian Sea east of the Gulf of New Zealand with Cossack warriors in the southeastern part of the map. In the upper left and right corners is a large title cartouche each surmounted by a coat of arms and flanked by military trophies and a dedication to Bartolomeus Sardi. The famous Vincenzo Coronelli (1650-1718), encyclopaedist, geographer, inventor and doctor of theology, was a citizen of the Republic of Venice. He was also one of the most important cartographers and publishers of his time in Europe.
