The work will be included in the Catalogue critique de l'oeuvre de Camille Claudel currently in preparation at Galerie Malaquais under the direction of Eve TURBAt, under number 2021-0438B. A certificate from Monsieur François de MASSARY, the artist's grand-nephew, dated December 21, 2000, will be given to the buyer. There was no anthume edition of Femme lisant une lettre. When it was used for the posthumous edition, the plaster cast of Femme lisant une lettre belonged to François de MASSARY (1930-2012), the artist's grand-nephew. In 2017, it entered the collections of the Musée de Sainte-Croix in Poitiers (inv.2017.2.2). The posthumous edition of Femme lisant une lettre was entrusted to the DELVAL foundry (twelve copies: eight numbered from 1/8 to 8/8 and four artist's proofs EA I/IV to EV IV/IV). The bronzes from this edition no longer show the network of seams visible on the plaster. Copy 2/8 is in the Musée Camille Claudel, Nogent-sur-Seine (inv.2010.6.20) and copy 5/8 in the Museo Soumaya, Mexico City (inv.508).
